He was born in Famagusta in 1964 and moved to Limassol after the Turkish invasion of 1974.

He studied in The English School, Nicosia, by means of a full scholarship. After finishing his two year military service, he was accepted in Cambridge University, having been awarded a full Commonwealth scholarship, where he obtained a BA(Hons)/MA degree in Engineering.

Following his university studies, he joined KPMG in London where he became a Member and later a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and worked for several years on audit and consulting assignments. Having been placed in one of the firm’s financial sector departments, he acquired specialisation in the audit of banks and other financial institutions, mainly in the City of London, but also briefly as a secondee to the firm’s office in Luxembourg.


When he returned to Cyprus, he worked initially in the audit profession where, amongst other responsibilities, he was in charge of the audit of one Cyprus’ major banks.

After a few years he joined shipping and shipmanagement services companies as finance director. While in the shipping sector, and for a certain period of time, he also part owned a self-operated and managed 2000 ton cargo vessel.

In 2005 he joined the Audit Office as a Senior Principal Auditor, from the position of which he was responsible for the audit of three Ministries and several semi-governmental organisations. In 2013 he was appointed by the President of the Republic to the office of the Deputy Auditor General.

He was appointed by the Attorney General of the Republic, and accordingly he served from 7 September 2020 till 7 June 2021, as member of the Commission of Inquiry for the Naturalisation of Investors by Exception.

He attended seminars in Cyprus and abroad on the subjects of accounting and auditing, financial products and services, fraud detection and investigation, shipping and shipmanagement, banking and others, and took part in various international conferences including Supreme Audit Institution international conferences where he represented the Audit Office of the Republic. He also delivered courses on accounting and audit procedures and standards and speeches on audit related issues.
